As the decade wore on, Elvis ploughed across America, playing thousands of shows, but his reliance on drugs and his weight problems eventually took their toll and he burnt out in For most of his career, Elvis's recorded output was punctuated by poor record company decisions and endless singles collections.

So where better place to end than a compilation of the Kings biggest hits? Since his death, there have been no fewer than five notable best of albums. This album, unlike the rest, is a succinct trawl through all 31 number ones from both the US and UK and serves as a timely overview of his time at the top. Pop and rock. The nine Elvis albums you should own. Elvis Andy McDonald.

Elvis The first full Presley album, Elvis is also a clear statement of where he would go next musically. The years covered are to Throw on Soho Scene, get some red lightbulbs, a smoke machine and recreate the atmosphere of those long gone jazz clubs. The wines are marvellous, but they arent bought to be drunk.

Similarly, many of these records will never be played, not least because the value drops the moment you do play them. People who invest in fine wines do so because they like wine. In that sense the record market has simply caught up with people who collect toys, teddy bears etc. The Sus nothing wrong with this, but it does mean that, like the wine, things start being priced on their ability to gain value. I buy my records to play them. Whether or not you representative of other buyers is another point.

Some readers might remember seeing this a few years back. Perhaps times have changed, but I suspect not, particularly when it comes to higher value items and multi-record sets.

It looks like they have done a very good job with this first release. Nuf sed. Thanks for covering this release on SDE, Paul.

Would love to see more of these jazz audiophile all-analog reissues get a mention. They all sound magnificent. CD debate, but I very much doubt there is any better way to hear these jazz albums, save for listening to the master tape itself. Right, one overzealous needle drop and there goes your prefect record. In all fairness this really should get a wider release in a more affordable package.

Humorous that this was originally deemed unreleasable barrel scrapings, released for the sake of cashing in. People are prepared to spend this kind of money…obviously evidenced here. Sold out in minutes. Prices will continue to skyrocket as long as people continue to pay. I think the German language Kraftwerk reissues are a good example: the readily available black are sonic equals no? Any idea what future releases like this by Craft? Craft has access to the Concord group and there is a lot of great music on the Stax, Fantasy, Prestige labels, etc.

No, wait, forget I said any of that! At copies, this seems like more of a hype tool than an actual product. They would be much smarter to take 1 week of pre orders and then press accordingly. Its limited availability is the reason why they sold 1, copies in minutes. The market for bespoke pieces like this is very healthy at the moment and Craft obviously knew that it was going to fly off the shelves. Never mind!

Sure, those are all great albums. This was the first version that leaked out and broadcast on multiple radio stations starting in September , and formed the basis for the bootleg Kum Back that appeared near the end of Johns later made two "official" attempts at compiling the Get Back album, with both versions widely bootlegged.

One of the myriad Get Back session compilation bootlegs was The Black Album , a three-LP set from the s in a memorable package although the material has since been bootlegged in superior sound quality.

In January , nearly of the original Nagra tapes were recovered by police in England and the Netherlands, with five people arrested.

Starting in , Apple began officially reissuing the Beatles catalogue on CD. Several bootleggers stepped in to fill this void by offering digital copies of their own needle drops of the entire Beatles catalogue, typically using premium vinyl pressings played and digitised with high-end audio equipment.

While these unauthorized copies are not bootlegs as commonly defined, their creation and distribution channels overlap with bootleg products. The Beatles' official catalogue of their original stereo studio albums has since been issued via digital download through iTunes. A considerable amount of additional never-circulated Beatles material is believed to exist, either in private possession or studio vaults, as mentioned in documents and recollections. From the group's early years, it has been reported that additional songs exist from the Quarrymen rehearsal tapes, including a Lennon—McCartney instrumental "Winston's Walk" and early versions of " When I'm Sixty-Four " and " Ask Me Why ".

The tape includes several cover versions of songs not available elsewhere by the Beatles, including the Bruce Channel number one " Hey! McCartney bought the tape at a auction, and since none of it was used for Anthology , it has been assumed to be of poor sound quality. Many demo recordings are known to have been made by the individual Beatles but have yet to become public. However, a small portion of "World Without Love" made its public debut in January during a series of Peter Asher concerts and has subsequently appeared in full elsewhere.

Between the official Anthology releases and the numerous outtakes that have been bootlegged, many of the Beatles' most interesting studio recordings are available in some form. Nevertheless, there are still recordings known to be in EMI's archives that have generated particular interest in their eventual release.

One is " Carnival of Light ", an improvised minute vocal and sound collage that the Beatles created in early for an art festival; the recording was under consideration for Anthology , and McCartney has been an advocate for its release. Anthology 3 included only a edit of the take 2 from that day's work on the song; asked why a longer version wasn't issued, George Martin explained: "I think it gets boring. Some recordings may no longer exist, if they ever existed originally.

A Quarrymen rehearsal that was recorded at Colin Hanton 's home was taped over. BBC documentation shows that " Sheila " and two versions of " Three Cool Cats " were recorded and never broadcast, but the tapes were likely reused or discarded, a fate shared by some of the Beatles' studio session tapes prior to late Carl Perkins said that he joined the Beatles in the studio for a late night jam session on 1 June , but this was probably not taped.

Several Lennon—McCartney titles were mentioned in a letter from McCartney, including "Looking Glass", "Years Roll Along", and "Keep Looking That Way", but there is no evidence that tapes were ever made of those songs during rehearsals from that era.

One final source of uncirculated recordings is the set of sessions held in — for the Anthology project. In addition to the two songs released, two other Lennon demos which have been bootlegged became the basis for additional work by the other three Beatles: " Now and Then " and " Grow Old With Me ".

A number of songs have been incorrectly claimed by bootleggers to be unreleased Beatles songs. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Not to be confused with Beatle boot. This article is about Beatles bootleg recordings in general. For the similarly titled album, see The Beatles Bootleg Recordings Lists about The Beatles.

Recordings were done in three different sessions typically running just 3 hours long, January, July and November at Bradley Film and Recording Studios, 16th Ave. Low sales convinced Decca to shelve the remaining tracks. When Buddy Holly found new fame with his re-recording of "That'll Be the Day" with his band the Crickets , Decca began to issue Holly's recordings from these sessions as singles, which culminated in a full-length LP as well as an accompanying EP.
